It’s only the second day of the legislative session and a lot has already happened.
This morning the full 3M Committee met to discuss two bills, H 4617 and H 4624. The first bill classifies XYLAZINE, a veterinary tranquilizer, as a Schedule III drug. Law enforcement asked for this over the summer because of the mass influx of the drug from China. Drug dealers have been mixing XYLAZINE with fentanyl which creates a terribly destructive cocktail that doesn’t respond to overdose medication.
H 4624 bans gender demolition surgeries and medications for minors. I offered an amendment to add more substantial teeth to the bill should a medical professional violate the law. Unfortunately, the majority of the committee didn’t agree with my position. Several of the Democrats then began a diatribe of false equivalences, false accusations, and outright lies about the bill’s effects and the motivations of those of us who support it.
